I had not heard about the Texans Plant, that's a real shame. I guess I will sell the rest of my vintage Craftsman that I was holding on to in the hopes of more reshoring. I think the current weak on USA president has as much to do with reshoring failures as the wuflu did. Trump started this by using tariffs to protect our economy, we need that to happen again and stick. If I have to buy import tools because of warranty then I will just stick to Tekton.

I would not purchases a single electrical/mechanical device made for Craftsman's, they are garbage. Craftsman Screw Drivers and wrenches used to be good, not sure about them currently, but anything with an engine is garbage, hasn't lasted me more than a few months at best, even their top of the line items.

I prefer the Braun. The changeable battery is a big deal and 500 lumens seems about perfect for the car stuff I do. Get much brighter and you start blinding yourself. There is also the price point. When you can get them for $20 is just seems like a steal for how long they run on a full charge. Only part I hate is the the charging is not self controlled and it is real easy to put one on charge and forget it over night. But that is minor in light of having replicable battery. The only other issue I can think of is the double joint. It is not super robust. Had one break from about 4' drop. But really minor gripes.

Unfortunately, it's impossible to see most of our illustrations due to blurry videoing. Otherwise, I gave up on Craftsman many years ago. Their products changes and they sold out to China. They sold out their people and their country for profits. I was raised on Craftsman and I stlll have OLD craftsman tools that are still working. Newer versions not so good. I have bought a lot of tools from Harbor Freight that have never given me a problem and they're far cheaper.

In 2024 you can't "get it right"? I don't buy it. It's all about the 💰

Are the sockets 6 or 12 point?

I really hope craftsman makes it even though I don’t like their tools. I have a friend that has craftsman power tools and he gets frustrated with them. I went with Ryobi because I needed something cheaper than the rest of home depot tools and my Ryobi smokes the craftsman power tools

I bought a craftsman tool box the red one and the ratchets switch from loosen to tighten keeps switching by itself. Aggravating. Need to trade them in for newer maybe.

Crapsman would be a better name. I was a loyal Craftsman user. They are garbage now. Worthless offshore garbage that is very overpriced for the so called quality.

Typically the mechanics tool sets no matter how many pieces will always be the better deal. I would really like to see Craftsman back in the US again. It's understandable for many reasons why there first attempt failed. For now I'll find my Craftsman tools at garage sales and pawn shops.

Back in the late 70's when I started working at a car dealer I bought Craftsman sockets and wrenches. They were a lot cheaper then Snap-on, Mac & Matco. Plus if I broke one I could replace it that night after work. A lot of the other guys would have to wait a week or two. The sockets, especially the deeps, seemed to be thinner walled than the expensive ones which I like (got in tighter spaces). But now it's hard to find any where near me to replace broken tools unless Ace Hardware can order it for me. Even though I've been retired for years I find my self buying Kobalt and from Harbor Freight. I'm not a big fan of the Craftsman quality anymore and the difficulty in exchanging broken tools.

I have a garage full of Craftsman hand tools, and they all say Made in USA. 🙂

Craftsman's ratchets are junk! I used Craftsman all my life, never had any issues. I picked up extra Craftsman tool set a year or so ago. 2 out of the 3 ratchets fell apart in 10 min of use. My old ones still work fine!

Like others, I have had my Craftsman tools from the 80's and they have served me well. But, when the brand was sold, service and quality declined, i stopped buying them all together. With better options available, I will never buy another Craftsman tool power or otherwise.

Klipsch speakers are made in America still. Most blame China etc...for factories closing here. Well...maybe you would LIKE a polluting factory in your neighborhood where the gubmint doesn't care about the air or water. That IS TexASS and many other GOP controlled states where the environment is FOR dumping.

I stopped buying ANYTHING Craftsman at least a decade ago. If I don’t need SnapOn, Matco, or Mac, I’ll go to HF and buy Icon crap that usually is good enough for prosumer work. I wouldn’t use it in my professional diesel mechanic days. That said, as we all know you have to pull a second mortgage on your house to outfit a basic SnapOn setup

I miss Sears and still use my craftsman tools . I think the replacement losers who would go there for free replacements every year ruined the store for everyone . I ve seen it a few times and could just tell the person was ripping them off and broke it to get a free one every year . No respect for that person in line rolling my eyes at the grown jackass . Ruined it for everyone . Sears said we had enough of people ripping us off for free stuff . I m sure some stuff broke but people do things like that and rip off insurance companies for a living which also ruins it for everyone who stays honest .

I still have my American made craftsman sets and tools, but I have not bought and will not buy a new, none American made craftsman tool again.

I'm 59 , my parents bought me a small set when I was about 10 because I worked on my bicycle and I still have most of it as I got older I added to it and it is all American made

Having worked at the Big Blue Box tool section, New Craftsman is not in any league near what it was under sears. Stanley took most of their line and simply re-branded it (Anything green is definitely re-branded Stanley with a new sticker). I would say 80% of the hand tools are re-colored Stanley. Sockets more or less the same, but there is the lifetime warrantee. V20 tools are ok for Homeowner/ProDIY. I am a ProDIY with 40 years in trades as an inspector/general constructor (Minor home renovations, decks, pools, etc). Yes the new RP/Brushless are much better than the 2 prior generations of V20, and even the baseline stuff is good bang for the buck. A solid variety, and good batteries. Best deal is buy the battery and charger for a free tool. Second best deal for low end is the 8 pack on sale. I call it a shop in a box. Yes, Dewalt will survive the apocalypse, but you'll be mortgaging your kids for batteries. Craftsman Steel storage is done by Waterloo, who also supplies Stanley. Again, the market is lower end homeowner/DIY. 1000 Series is beginner level and somewhat durable, 2000 series is much pricier and has wide competition (and does suffer some quality issues). Once again, know what you're looking for, and shop the sales.

My Craftsman mechanics tools were purchased at Sears in Newark or Hayward, California in 1986-1989. As was my only Craftsman tool chest. I still have every single piece in June 2024. The only Craftsman I now buy are Made🇺🇸 hand tools at garage or estate sales. As far as power tools go? If you’re pro it’s Milwaukee 18v all the way. For the DIY’r? Rigid offers decent stuff that does go on sale regularly and Amazon sells the big batteries that are knockoffs (but haven’t let me down yet) for approximately half what Rigid costs.

Craftsman is overpriced for what you get and comes with too much unwanted crap.

I am like you when it comes to Craftsman tools. A lot of mine are from the days when it was real Craftsman. Including their 10 drawer top and bottom chests. And just before the last Sears closed here in the OKC area I got the 42 inch wide top and bottom chests at a rediculous low price. I know the difference between the original tools and the now made overseas stuff. Too bad they couldn't get the Texas facility to be successful.

I’ve been into woodworking for 20 years and I’ve NEVER seen that Dewalt thickness planer for over $700. Thats just a ploy to make you think you’re getting a great deal! That planer has been $550-600 for 20 years now!

The brushless tools are much cheaper new at eBay than Lowes are! Lowe's prices are a rip off!

Eddie Lampert can rot in hell. He ruined what was once a great company. I worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co 1992-2002 and ALL my Craftsman tools are from then, all USA made. I never bought Craftsman power tools since it was mostly Ryobi sourced. I have a DeWalt drill from the 90s that I even used at my job assembling furniture and it's still going strong.

Quinn tools from harbor freight makes a decent set of tools , Im not big on cheap tools but i bought the 66 piece ratchet set for 59 bucks , They seem ok for now and use them often !

My grandfather has a 100-year-old S&K socket set, which was bought when bearings were first invented. That set has a lifetime warranty and has seen a lot of abuse. It has never been bent or stripped out. So it seems companies can build good tools but seek not to. I no longer buy Craftsmen just because they failed far too many times while I needed them. So I resorted to getting sets from the old guys when they retired at Auctions, and they have been my go-to ever since.

Craftsman power tools have long seemed to use egg shaped bearings and that ain't right and was a bad choice.

I miss the older thinner wrenches. Great for tight spots; now they're also chunky.

Stuff like ruitool japanese saw is the type of item that for SOME people its better to buy from china direct. The $2.24 japanese hand saw I bought should last me for years for the little bit I need it. Stuff like that oscillating tool blades etc is almost a good enough quality for a fraction of the price. I miss the lowes charcoal deal. Lots of great deals thanks for sharing. 🎉

DeWALT DCH133B SDS+ 20V Max brushless hammer drill is 91.57 on clearance at some Lowe’s. Found two locations with that price around me. Has the D-handle, depth rod, and all.

I think in a few years Craftsman will be a dead line. The only thing keeping the name alive now is nostalgia. Most of the people like myself that grew up with Craftsman or remember the tools their dad used are getting older.

At least Craftsman through Lowes will still sell you individual sockets or wrenches

Gearwrench is closer to the Sears version of Craftsman as Apex/Danaher makes the Gearwrench items as they did back when Sears sold Craftsman.
